‘Father, help me live thankfully in Jesus Name.’

Ps 26:7 (KJ2000) ” 7 That I may proclaim with the voice of thanksgiving, and tell of all your wondrous works. ”

‘Thank you for enough time to get done what we needed to at work and for showing me how to slow down and how You are eternal and have no time.

Forgive me for pride and taking my eye off of you and for not being more thankful.’

I want to live thankful. In the same situation, I can decide to complain or be thankful. Let it be thankful.

Does appreciation require humility?

Am I paying attention to the right things?

It helps me to say ‘thank you’ then accept it by realizing I actually am thankful. As the thankfulness grows in my heart, I begin imagining and creating ways to express my gratitude.

‘Jesus, thank you for teaching me about thankfulness.’

Ps 69:30 (KJ2000) ” 30 I will praise the name of God with a song, and will magnify him with thanksgiving. ”

Ps 95:1-11 (KJ2000) ” 1 O come, let us sing unto the LORD: let us make a joyful noise to the rock of our salvation. 2 Let us come before his presence with thanksgiving, and make a joyful noise unto him with psalms. 3 For the LORD is a great God, and a great King above all gods. 4 In his hand are the deep places of the earth: the strength of the hills is his also. 5 The sea is his, and he made it: and his hands formed the dry land. 6 O come, let us worship and bow down: let us kneel before the LORD our maker. 7 For he is our God; and we are the people of his pasture, and the sheep of his hand. Today if you will hear his voice, 8 Harden not your heart, as in the provocation, and as in the day of trials in the wilderness: 9 When your fathers tested me, tried me, and saw my work. 10 Forty years long was I grieved with this generation, and said, It is a people that do err in their heart, and they have not known my ways: 11 Unto whom I swore in my anger that they should not enter into my rest.”

What can I bring to God?

I can give Him thanks.

Thank you for guiding me and showing me things. Thank you for revealing the truth to me. And thank you for Eternal Life.

Thank you for Your Kingdom and being a great King higher than all people and all powers.

Luke 17:12-19 (KJ2000) ” 12 And as he entered into a certain village, there met him ten men that were lepers, who stood afar off: 13 And they lifted up their voices, and said, Jesus, Teacher, have mercy on us. 14 And when he saw them, he said unto them, Go show yourselves unto the priests. And it came to pass, that, as they went, they were cleansed. 15 And one of them, when he saw that he was healed, turned back, and with a loud voice glorified God, 16 And fell down on his face at his feet, giving him thanks: and he was a Samaritan. 17 And Jesus answering said, Were there not ten cleansed? but where are the nine? 18 There was not found one that returned to give glory to God, except this stranger. 19 And he said unto him, Arise, go your way: your faith has made you whole.”

Luke 22:19 (KJ2000) ” 19 And he took bread, and gave thanks, and broke it, and gave unto them, saying, This is my body which is given for you: this do in remembrance of me. ”

Paul gave thanks Acts 27:35 (KJ2000) ” 35 And when he had thus spoken, he took bread, and gave thanks to God in the presence of them all: and when he had broken it, he began to eat. ”

Thanks here is the word eucharisteo (yoo-khar-is-teh’-o) which means to be grateful,
to express gratitude (towards), and to say grace at a meal (Mickelson’s Enhanced Strong’s Greek and Hebrew Dictionaries)

Thanks also could be charis which means graciousness (as gratifying), of manner or act
The divine influence upon the heart, and its reflection in the life. and gratitude(Mickelson’s Enhanced Strong’s Greek and Hebrew Dictionaries)

‘Jesus help me to become thankful.’
Ginomai eucharisteo.

1Thess 5:16-24 (KJ2000) ” 16 Rejoice evermore. 17 Pray without ceasing. 18 In everything give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you. 19 Quench not the Spirit. 20 Despise not prophesying. 21 Test all things; hold fast that which is good. 22 Abstain from all appearance of evil. 23 And the very God of peace sanctify you wholly; and I pray God your whole spirit and soul and body be preserved blameless unto the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. 24 Faithful is he that calls you, who also will do it.”

1Thess 5:18 (KJ2000) ” 18 In everything give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you. ”

Perhaps not thanking Him for everything because who would thank Him for evil? But thanking Him during times of trial, difficulty, sorrow and pain. Not for the pain but perhaps for what is gained through the pain.

Ps 116:16-17 (KJ2000) ” 16 O LORD, truly I am your servant; I am your servant, and the son of your handmaid: you have loosed my bonds. 17 I will offer to you the sacrifice of thanksgiving, and will call upon the name of the LORD.”

Ps 56:10-13 (KJ2000) ” 10 In God will I praise his word: in the LORD will I praise his word. 11 In God have I put my trust: I will not be afraid what man can do unto me. 12 Your vows are upon me, O God: I will render praises unto you. 13 For you have delivered my soul from death: will not you deliver my feet from falling, that I may walk before God in the light of the living?”

“Eucharisteo describes a person who is depending on God’s grace moment by moment. The present tense pictures this as one’s lifestyle, a life only possible under the control of the Spirit.”

Martin Rinkart says
‘Now thank we all our God
With heart and hands and voices
Who wondrous things had done
In whom His world rejoices.

Who, from our mother’s arms,
Hath led us on our way
With countless gifts of love
And still is ours today

“I have not always found it easy to practice this duty; this I confess to my shame. When suffering extreme pain some time ago, a brother in Christ said to me, “Have you thanked God for this?” I replied that I desired to be patient, and would be thankful to recover. “But,” said he, “in everything give thanks, not after it is over, but while you are still in it, and perhaps when you are enabled to give thanks for the severe pain, it will cease.” I believe that there was much force in that good advice. (Ed note: I agree but would add that even if the pain doesn’t cease, one’s heart assumes a proper perspective to pain).” – Charles Spurgeon
