God’s special word to me that I keep in my heart is ” I will always answer every question you have.”
I have other special words like the Lord is my Shepherd and He is the light of the world.
but this one is particualarly special.
I remember being 13 and staying at my grandparents house. Not being able to sleep and praying. I don’t remember the questions I had but I do know God answered them all and He continues to answer them ALL.
The pastor talked about Mary keeping the word in her heart.
This one I have kept. 47 years later. It seems like a lot of time to me but to Him it is but a breath,
Luke 2:19 (KJ2000) ” 19 But Mary kept all these things, and pondered them in her heart. ”
Luke 2:19 (ABP) ” 19 η δε But Μαριάμ Mary πάντα συνετήρει preserved all τα ρήματα ταύτα these things, συμβάλλουσα uniting them εν in τη καρδία αυτής her heart. ”
She preserved all these things (what the shepherds said) and united them in her heart.
Luke 2:19 (VW) ” 19 But Mary kept all these things and pondered them in her heart. ”
Luke 2:8-14 (KJ2000) ” 8 And there were in the same country shepherds abiding in the field, keeping watch over their flock by night. 9 And, lo, the angel of the Lord came upon them, and the glory of the Lord shone round about them: and they were much afraid. 10 And the angel said unto them, Fear not: for, behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people. 11 For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Savior, who is Christ the Lord. 12 And this shall be a sign unto you; You shall find the babe wrapped in swaddling clothes, lying in a manger. 13 And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God, and saying, 14 Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good will toward men.”
Did Luke get this story from Mary? She was there. He might have from shepherd.
I have some scripture that talks about other people being spoken to by God:
Jer 23:16-35 (KJ2000) ” 16 Thus says the LORD of hosts, Hearken not unto the words of the prophets that prophesy unto you: they make you worthless: they speak a vision of their own heart, and not out of the mouth of the LORD. 17 They say still unto them that despise me, The LORD has said, You shall have peace; and they say unto everyone that walks after the imagination of his own heart, No evil shall come upon you. 18 For who has stood in the counsel of the LORD, and has perceived and heard his word? who has marked his word, and heard it? 19 Behold, a whirlwind of the LORD has gone forth in fury, even a grievous whirlwind: it shall fall grievously upon the head of the wicked. 20 The anger of the LORD shall not return, until he has executed, and till he has performed the thoughts of his heart: in the latter days you shall consider it perfectly. 21 I have not sent these prophets, yet they ran: I have not spoken to them, yet they prophesied. 22 But if they had stood in my counsel, and had caused my people to hear my words, then they should have turned them from their evil way, and from the evil of their doings. 23 Am I a God at hand, says the LORD, and not a God afar off? 24 Can any hide himself in secret places that I shall not see him? says the LORD. Do not I fill heaven and earth? says the LORD. 25 I have heard what the prophets said, that prophesy lies in my name, saying, I have dreamed, I have dreamed. 26 How long shall this be in the heart of the prophets that prophesy lies? yea, they are prophets of the deceit of their own heart; 27 Who think to cause my people to forget my name by their dreams which they tell every man to his neighbor, as their fathers have forgotten my name for Baal. 28 The prophet that has a dream, let him tell a dream; and he that has my word, let him speak my word faithfully. What is the chaff to the wheat? says the LORD. 29 Is not my word like a fire? says the LORD; and like a hammer that breaks the rock in pieces? 30 Therefore, behold, I am against the prophets, says the LORD, that steal my words everyone from his neighbor. 31 Behold, I am against the prophets, says the LORD, that use their tongues, and say, He says. 32 Behold, I am against them that prophesy false dreams, says the LORD, and do tell them, and cause my people to err by their lies, and by their recklessness; yet I sent them not, nor commanded them: therefore they shall not profit this people at all, says the LORD. 33 And when this people, or the prophet, or a priest, shall ask you, saying, What is the burden of the LORD? you shall then say unto them, What burden? I will even forsake you, says the LORD. 34 And as for the prophet, and the priest, and the people, that shall say, The burden of the LORD, I will even punish that man and his house. 35 Thus shall you say everyone to his neighbor, and everyone to his brother, What has the LORD answered? and, What has the LORD spoken?”
Jer 23:24 (KJ2000) ” 24 Can any hide himself in secret places that I shall not see him? says the LORD. Do not I fill heaven and earth? says the LORD. ”
It is talking about not adding to God’s word. Let His word be pure. Don’t add my own stuff. His word is enough.
I believe God answers everyone’s questions but there might be reasons I am hard of hearing.

1Sam 28:15-16 (KJ2000) ” 15 And Samuel said to Saul, Why have you disturbed me, to bring me up? And Saul answered, I am much distressed; for the Philistines make war against me, and God has departed from me, and answers me no more, neither by prophets, nor by dreams: therefore I have called you, that you may make known unto me what I shall do. 16 Then said Samuel, Why then do you ask of me, seeing the LORD has departed from you, and has become your enemy?”
1Kgs 18:24 (KJ2000) ” 24 And call you on the name of your gods, and I will call on the name of the LORD: and the God that answers by fire, let him be God. And all the people answered and said, It is well spoken. ”
1Kgs 18:1 (KJ2000) ” 1 And it came to pass after many days, that the word of the LORD came to Elijah in the third year, saying, Go, show yourself unto Ahab; and I will send rain upon the earth. ”
1Kgs 17:2-7 (KJ2000) ” 2 And the word of the LORD came unto him, saying, 3 Get you from here, and turn eastward, and hide yourself by the brook Cherith, that is east of the Jordan. 4 And it shall be, that you shall drink of the brook; and I have commanded the ravens to feed you there. 5 So he went and did according unto the word of the LORD: for he went and dwelt by the brook Cherith, that is east of the Jordan. 6 And the ravens brought him bread and meat in the morning, and bread and meat in the evening; and he drank of the brook. 7 And it came to pass after a while, that the brook dried up, because there had been no rain in the land.”
1Kgs 17:8-15 (KJ2000) ” 8 And the word of the LORD came unto him, saying, 9 Arise, get you to Zarephath, which belongs to Sidon, and dwell there: behold, I have commanded a widow woman there to sustain you. 10 So he arose and went to Zarephath. And when he came to the gate of the city, behold, the widow woman was there gathering sticks: and he called to her, and said, Bring me, I pray you, a little water in a vessel, that I may drink. 11 And as she was going to bring it, he called to her, and said, Bring me, I pray you, a morsel of bread in your hand. 12 And she said, As the LORD your God lives, I have not bread, but a handful of meal in a barrel, and a little oil in a jar: and, behold, I am gathering two sticks, that I may go in and prepare it for me and my son, that we may eat it, and die. 13 And Elijah said unto her, Fear not; go and do as you have said: but make me from it a little loaf first, and bring it unto me, and after that make some for you and for your son. 14 For thus says the LORD God of Israel, The barrel of meal shall not run out, neither shall the jar of oil fail, until the day that the LORD sends rain upon the earth. 15 And she went and did according to the saying of Elijah: and she, and he, and her house, did eat many days.”
1Kgs 17:24 (KJ2000) ” 24 And the woman said to Elijah, Now by this I know that you are a man of God, and that the word of the LORD in your mouth is truth. ”
Was His voice in the whirlwind?
1Kgs 19:9-13 (KJ2000) ” 9 And he came there unto a cave, and lodged there; and, behold, the word of the LORD came to him, and he said unto him, What do you here, Elijah? 10 And he said, I have been very jealous for the LORD God of hosts: for the children of Israel have forsaken your covenant, thrown down your altars, and slain your prophets with the sword; and I, even I only, am left; and they seek my life, to take it away. 11 And he said, Go forth, and stand upon the mount before the LORD. And, behold, the LORD passed by, and a great and strong wind tore the mountains, and broke in pieces the rocks before the LORD; but the LORD was not in the wind: and after the wind an earthquake; but the LORD was not in the earthquake: 12 And after the earthquake a fire; but the LORD was not in the fire: and after the fire a still small voice. 13 And it was so, when Elijah heard it, that he wrapped his face in his mantle, and went out, and stood in the entrance of the cave. And, behold, there came a voice unto him, and said, What do you here, Elijah?”
Exod 3:4-6 (KJ2000) ” 4 And when the LORD saw that he turned aside to see, God called unto him out of the midst of the bush, and said, Moses, Moses. And he said, Here am I. 5 And he said, Draw not near here: put off your shoes from your feet, for the place on which you stand is holy ground. 6 Moreover he said, I am the God of your father, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob. And Moses hid his face; for he was afraid to look upon God.”
Moses listened to God respectfully and fearfully.
He was a parable of what deliverer is. He physically delivered the people.
Jesus spiritually delivers us from all attachment to sin and flesh.
Jesus listens to God:
Matt 15:4 (KJ2000) ” 4 For God commanded, saying, Honor your father and mother: and, He that curses father or mother, let him die the death. ”
John 8:28 (KJ2000) ” 28 Then said Jesus unto them, When you have lifted up the Son of man, then shall you know that I am he, and that I do nothing of myself; but as my Father has taught me, I speak these things. ”
Hearing God requires obedience. They are not separate issues. I can hear only when I obey and when I hear I am required to obey.
This is the real reason I don’t want to hear and why many others claim not to be able to hear.
If I hear and don’t do what God says, it is bad.
But isn’t it worth the risk?
If I hear and do what God says it not only is so good but is good for me. I might not want to do it at first but after it makes all kind of sense and shows me what I really need.
I need only to trust Him. He is not going to tell me to sell all my possessions unless it is for my good. What He tells me is to take care of my possessions better. This is not my favorite thing but it is for my good.
It may not be what I want exactly but it will be what I need perfectly.
He’s not going to say go to Africa unless it is for my own good.
I never had a problem with this one. I wouldn’t mind traveling.
But someone who is afraid of travel might have the thought that God is definately going to tell them to travel so don’t listen. Just think about it reasonably. Does that make sense. Is God going to ask you to do what you are most afraid of?
perhaps but usually He leads in a much gentler way.
Little by little and step by step. He rarely says jump off the cliff. That would not be loving. Not that He is limited. Perhaps jumping off the cliff saves my life somehow.
The truth is I don’t understand. My perception is limited. His is not.
I trust Him.
In Conclusion, God is good.
Mark 10:18 (KJ2000) ” 18 And Jesus said unto him, Why call me good? there is none good but one, that is, God. ”
It is interesting that this verse comes from the time Jesus asked a rich man to give up all his possessions and give them to the poor. This is not a universal command. Most of what God answers me hardly requires much action at all. Like forgive people. Sure I don’t always want to do it but He is far more patient with me then I ever have to be.
The point of this verse however in application to what I am talking about is that God is good.
If I don’t trust Him, I am thinking He is not good.
If he tells me to jump off a cliff I won’t do it and find many excuses not to.
It is important for me to know His voice.
If a stranger yells to me not to cross the road I suppose I might halt and look around and decide if they are correct. But I need to build my faith and hearing to the point where I know it is my good shepherd talking and to jump when He says jump.
I always wanted to open this up to other people. If anyone has a question they would like me to ask God, I will try and ask Him. I can’t guarantee He will answer me. I have the impression that He will only tell me answers that are relevant to me and the other people should develop their own hearing ability. But, He does tell me about other people so I thought I’d offer it.
Also my first past post to read after this was Why do I fail?
