Luke 1:47 (KJ2000) ” 47 And my spirit has rejoiced in God my Savior. ”
Ps 13:5-6 (KJ2000) ” 5 But I have trusted in your mercy; my heart shall rejoice in your salvation. 6 I will sing unto the LORD, because he has dealt bountifully with me.”
Ps 32:1-11 (KJ2000) ” 1 A Psalm of David. A maschil. Blessed is he whose transgression is forgiven, whose sin is covered.
2 Blessed is the man unto whom the LORD imputes not iniquity, and in whose spirit there is no guile.
3 When I kept silence, my bones grew old through my groaning all the day long.
4 For day and night your hand was heavy upon me: my strength is turned into the drought of summer. Selah.
5 I acknowledged my sin unto you, and my iniquity have I not hid. I said, I will confess my transgressions unto the LORD; and you forgave the iniquity of my sin. Selah.
6 For this shall every one that is godly pray unto you in a time when you may be found: surely in the floods of great waters they shall not come near unto him.
7 You are my hiding place; you shall preserve me from trouble; you shall surround me about with songs of deliverance. Selah.
8 I will instruct you and teach you in the way which you shall go: I will guide you with my eye.
9 Be you not as the horse, or as the mule, which have no understanding: whose mouth must be held in with bit and bridle, else they come not near unto you.
10 Many sorrows shall be to the wicked: but he that trusts in the LORD, mercy shall surround him. 11 Be glad in the LORD, and rejoice, you righteous: and shout for joy, all you that are upright in heart.”
Luke 10:18-22 (KJ2000) ” 18 And he said unto them, I beheld Satan as lightning fall from heaven. 19 Behold, I give unto you power to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy: and nothing shall by any means hurt you. 20 Nevertheless in this rejoice not, that the spirits are subject unto you; but rather rejoice, because your names are written in heaven. 21 In that hour Jesus rejoiced in spirit, and said, I thank you, O Father, Lord of heaven and earth, that you have hid these things from the wise and prudent, and have revealed them unto babes: even so, Father; for so it seemed good in your sight. 22 All things are delivered to me by my Father: and no man knows who the Son is, but the Father; and who the Father is, but the Son, and he to whom the Son will reveal him.”
I rejoice that I am saved by Jesus.
I’m glad that He wrote my name in heaven.
I’m happy that He forgives my sins.
I am extremely joyful that He reveals Himself to me that He lets me get to know Him.
Rejoice when the lost are found:
Luke 15:6-7 (KJ2000) ” 6 And when he comes home, he calls together his friends and neighbors, saying unto them, Rejoice with me; for I have found my sheep which was lost. 7 I say unto you, that likewise joy shall be in heaven over one sinner that repents, more than over ninety and nine just persons, who need no repentance.”
People rejoiced on palm Sunday. Because Jesus came to their city.
Luke 19:37 (KJ2000) ” 37 And when he came near, even now at the descent of the mount of Olives, the whole multitude of the disciples began to rejoice and praise God with a loud voice for all the mighty works that they had seen; ”
“Jesus I am glad you are here and with me always. You are my strength and my song.”
Do I have to rejoice all the time?
Rom 12:15 (KJ2000) ” 15 Rejoice with them that do rejoice, and weep with them that weep. ”
When I look at the goodness of Jesus and God, it is hard not to rejoice.
Rom 12:21 (KJ2000) ” 21 Be not overcome of evil, but overcome evil with good. ”
When I see goodness win – Jesus’ love hope and faith win, it is hard not to praise Him.
I am forever grateful for His salvation.
2Cor 7:9 (KJ2000) ” 9 Now I rejoice, not that you were made sorry, but that you sorrowed to repentance: for you were made sorry after a godly manner, that you might suffer loss by us in nothing. ”
In Conclusion, there are 3 reasons to rejoice: Jesus has saved us, He forgives our sins, and He is guiding us to know Him.
There are also infinitely more reasons to rejoice in Him. He made the sun which makes me warm is one example.
And when it is time to weep do so vehemently also: 2Cor 7:10-11 (KJ2000) ” 10 For godly sorrow works repentance to salvation not to be regretted: but the sorrow of the world works death. 11 For behold this same thing, that you sorrowed after a godly sort, what earnestness it worked in you, yea, what clearing of yourselves, yea, what indignation, yea, what fear, yea, what vehement desire, yea, what zeal, yea, what full punishment! In all things you have proved yourselves to be pure in this matter.”
