1 = Gen 2:7 “Then the Lord God formed a man from the dust of the ground and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life, and the man became a living being.” -NIV
2 = ‘We want so much more—something the books on aesthetics take little notice of. But the poets and the mythologies know all about it. We do not want merely to see beauty, though, God knows, even that is bounty enough. We want something else which can hardly be put into words—to be united with the beauty we see, to pass into it, to receive it into ourselves, to bathe in it, to become part of it.’
From The Weight of Glory – C.S. Lewis
Put those two ideas together:
God breathed the breath of life into us.
We desire to become one with ‘beauty’
One thing I get is that God wants us to become one with Him.
He wants us to want this. If we want it we will do it.
Another way to unite these ideas is the more I recognize how beautiful God is the more I love Him.
Father, help me see how beautiful You, Jesus and the Holy Spirit is.
They say Jesus was not pretty on the outside. He was very plain. And yet the Jesus I have come to know is very beautiful and becomes more beautiful each day I get to know more of Him.
